About the GLBT Resource Center of Michiana

The GLBT Resource Center of Michiana serves the GLBT community of the Northern Indiana and Southern Western Michigan areas, including South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart, LaPorte, Buchanan, and Niles and everywhere in between!

We offer weekly support groups for GLBT men, women, and youth and transgender.

We envision Michiana as a vibrant region that flourishes because each individual is empowered to realize their full potential and is valued for their unique contributions to our community.

Mission Statement

We build community in Michiana through support, education, and advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender individuals as well as their families and friends by providing a physical space, a resource library, and programming that meets the individual, relational and collective needs of our region.

We honor and respect diversity, we value all people regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious background, financial status, political beliefs or health status. We welcome all to this space who are willing to learn and recognize the special qualities of others.

Guiding Principles

We create and maintain the Center as a safe and nurturing environment for those individuals who know or are questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity.

We serve as a primary voice of advocacy for raising awareness of the contributions and challenges of GLBT people in Michiana.

We celebrate and cultivate the creativity, diversity, health and wellbeing within the individual, their relationships and our community.

We provide diverse learning opportunities, resources and support that enhance lives within the GLBT community and our allies as well as the whole of Michiana.

We foster unity through the development of collaborative relationships with regional GLBT Centers, supportive community organizations and businesses.

We strive to build a sustainable organization through financial responsibility, leadership development and transparent practices.
